Chaplain Resident

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care through spiritual assessments and timely interventions under the supervision of the Clinical Pastoral Educator (CPE).
• Offer spiritual counseling and support to patients, their loved ones, staff, and volunteers.
• Conduct appropriate rituals, memorials, and blessings sensitive to the needs of an interfaith community.
• Maintain accurate documentation of spiritual services and interventions within the electronic medical chart (Epic).
• Assist patients and families with ethical decision-making processes.
• Support an interdisciplinary approach to care and refer individuals to appropriate professionals when needs exceed the scope of chaplaincy practice.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in religious or spiritual studies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Conceptual knowledge of various religious traditions.
• Ability to provide nonintrusive counseling to support emotional and spiritual well-being.
• Proficiency in operating general office equipment and computer systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
• Previous volunteer service in a people-helping profession.
