Chaplain Resident

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care through spiritual assessments and timely interventions under the supervision of the Clinical Pastoral Educator (CPE).
• Offer spiritual counseling and support to patients, their loved ones, staff, and volunteers.
• Conduct appropriate rituals, memorials, and blessings sensitive to the needs of an interfaith community.
• Maintain accurate documentation of spiritual services and patient visits within the electronic medical chart (Epic).
• Assist patients and families with ethical decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support holistic patient wellbeing.
• Refer individuals to appropriate professionals, such as behavioral health specialists, when needs exceed the scope of chaplaincy practice.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in religious or spiritual studies.
• Strong knowledge of various religious traditions.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Ability to provide nonintrusive counseling to support emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
• Proficiency in operating general office equipment and computers.

Preferred Qualifications

• One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
• Previous volunteer service in a people-helping profession.
