About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the chief academic and administrative leader for the Department of Population & Public Health Sciences.
- Provide strategic leadership to advance the department's mission in education, research, and community engagement.
- Oversee undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs, ensuring quality and continuous improvement.
- Manage departmental operations, including budgeting, fiscal accountability, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain high-quality faculty and staff while supporting their career development.
- Foster a culture of collaborative research, grant activity, and interdisciplinary scholarship.
- Build and maintain partnerships with health systems, agencies, and public health organizations.
- Maintain an active program of teaching and scholarship consistent with expectations for an R2 university.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree or equivalent in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related field.
- Academic rank of Associate or Full Professor.
- At least 1 year of academic leadership experience with the ability to build consensus and manage resources.
- A proven record of collaborative research and peer-reviewed publications.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding for research.
- Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with faculty, students, and community partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree or equivalent specifically in public health.
- Professional experience working within a public health setting.
