Chair of Psychiatry

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical, administrative, and strategic leadership for all inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services.
• Maintain an active clinical practice while overseeing departmental operations and physician performance.
• Supervise psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
• Establish clinical standards, workflows, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, NYS Office of Mental Health, and Department of Health regulations.
• Participate in budgeting, staffing planning, and operational strategy to improve service access and continuity of care.
• Represent the Department of Psychiatry on hospital and medical staff committees.

Requirements

• Board Certified Psychiatrist.
• Eligible for medical licensure in New York State.
• Minimum of five (5) years of clinical psychiatric experience.
• Strong clinical, administrative, and communication skills.
• Commitment to quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and team-based care.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior leadership experience in a psychiatry department.
