Certified Welding Inspector

Responsibilities

• Perform quality assurance/control inspections for structural and miscellaneous steel welding activities
• Perform Certified Welding Inspection (CWI) services for commercial, industrial, and public works projects
• Review construction drawings, welding procedures, shop drawings, and project specifications
• Communicate inspection findings and compliance issues to stakeholders
• Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting compliance with AWS codes and standards
• Mentor and train junior inspectors on welding inspection procedures
• Identify and document non-conforming welding work and initiate corrective actions
• Verify welder qualifications and welding procedure specifications (WPS/PQR)
• Perform visual weld inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1
• Coordinate nondestructive testing (NDT) activities and review results

Requirements

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, welding symbols, and specifications
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and applicable building codes
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in welding inspection or quality control for construction projects
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or Associate’s degree with relevant experience
• ICC Structural Steel and Bolting or ICC Structural Welding certifications
• NDT certifications
