Certified Weld Inspector, CWI

Responsibilities

• Inspect and document welded equipment, parts, and assemblies from receiving through final inspection
• Conduct various nondestructive inspections and provide oversight of overall welding inspection processes
• Perform positive material inspection analysis utilizing radiation-producing equipment
• Execute radiographic film review to ASME Section III, IV, V, VIII, and IX requirements
• Maintain welder continuity logs and ensure compliance with ASME and DOD standards
• Perform daily visual and process audits in manufacturing areas to ensure timely testing
• Coordinate audits and monitor contracted nondestructive evaluation processes and personnel
• Partner with cross-functional teams to develop quality and efficiency improvements
• Create documentation of compliance with applicable ASME codes and regulations

Requirements

• Associates degree in Welding Technology or a related technical field, or two or more years of experience as a CWI in a manufacturing environment (pressure vessel, piping, pump, or heat transfer)
• AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) Certification
• Experience with ASME, PED, ATEX, NEC, NACE, ANSI, and TEMA codes
• Knowledge of nondestructive and dimensional inspection methods and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, work orders, and procedure manuals
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
• Strong mathematical skills and ability to use various measuring devices to meet specifications
