Certified Surgical Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the surgeon, registered nurse, and anesthesiologist in the operating room
• Scrub, assist the RN circulator, and set up/break down surgical procedures
• Ensure proper supplies, equipment, and instruments are ready for use
• Maintain sterile technique and report any observed breaks in protocol
• Perform proper counting of sponges, instruments, and sharps
• Anticipate surgeon's needs and pass instruments appropriately
• Prepare and preserve specimens
• Clean and disinfect operating rooms, tables, and surfaces between cases
• Restock operating rooms to meet par levels

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology
• CST certification verified via NBSTSA
• BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of current Surgical Tech experience in an OR setting
