Certified Surgical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support to oral and maxillofacial surgeons during surgical procedures
• Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing medical histories and providing pre- and post-operative instructions
• Maintain sterile technique and manage surgical operatories following aseptic protocols
• Monitor and record patient vital signs during surgery
• Sterilize, organize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient encounters and surgical procedures
• Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
• Participate in safety and compliance checks including crash cart and equipment calibrations

Requirements

• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential or equivalent
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Advanced knowledge of oral surgery procedures and sterile techniques
• Proficiency with electronic health records and digital imaging

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in oral surgery or dental surgical assisting
• ACLS or DAANCE certification
• Relevant college coursework
