Certified Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Process, prepare, package, and fill outpatient prescriptions and inpatient medication orders
• Maintain accurate patient and medication information in pharmacy information systems
• Manage medication inventory including receiving, stocking, and rotating supplies
• Secure medications according to USP and regulatory requirements
• Operate automated dispensing cabinets and pharmacy automation systems
• Perform ward and clinic medication inspections and remove expired products
• Compound or reconstitute non-sterile medications
• Assist with sterile compounding activities when qualified
• Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to support safe medication practices

Requirements

• National Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB CPhT or NHA ExCPT)
• 1–2+ years of recent Pharmacy Technician experience in inpatient, outpatient, or hospital settings
• Experience with computerized pharmacy systems
• Experience with medication inventory management
• Working knowledge of pharmacy terminology and dosage forms
• Ability to operate pharmacy automation technology
• Proficiency in English communication
• Ability to meet VA credentialing and background investigation requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with VA or integrated healthcare pharmacy systems
• Experience in both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy practice
• Expertise in sterile and non-sterile compounding
• Proficiency with automated dispensing equipment
• Knowledge of controlled substance handling and regulatory compliance
