About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide client advocacy and support using personal lived experience to promote hope and encouragement
  • Assist clients in accessing community services including healthcare, housing, and employment training
  • Support clients' pursuit of recovery activities and model personal responsibility
  • Assist clinical and residential staff with the provision of behavioral health services
  • Perform client service tasks such as assisting with intakes, discharges, and hygiene needs
  • Maintain professional documentation and adhere to ethical standards and state regulations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified Peer Counselor Certification
  • Lived experience with mental health or substance use services
  • Minimum of one year in mental health or substance use disorder recovery
  • Ability to obtain Agency Affiliated Counselor status within 60 days of hire
  • Valid food handlers card obtained within one week of hire
  • Proficiency in reading comprehension and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • A.A., B.A., or B.S. degree in a health or human services field
