Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Responsibilities

• Implement goal-directed occupational therapy interventions for pediatric patients under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist
• Assist in the evaluation of functional performance for individuals with physical, congenital, or developmental disabilities
• Follow the established plan of care and collaborate with the Occupational Therapist to modify treatments as needed
• Provide patient and family teaching to support treatment goals and independence
• Complete accurate daily documentation reflecting patient response to treatment and progress toward discharge needs
• Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supply inventory
• Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams

Requirements

• Associate degree from an ACOTE accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Current Illinois Occupational Therapy License
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Two to three years of previous experience delivering occupational therapy services in a pediatric or similar environment
• New graduates may be considered if clinical experience is applicable and supervision is available
