Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Responsibilities

• Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist and adhere to community documentation guidelines
• Record treatments given and progress notes in medical record
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area
• Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans
• Record treatment charges per the community policy and procedures
• Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in a maintenance program
• Report any changes in residents' physical condition and/or behavior

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) therapy program
• Current state licensure for Texas
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience, or 1 year in acute care, skilled nursing, or AL/MC
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs on a regular basis
• Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• CPR Certification
• Experience evaluating and treating residents with memory impairment
