About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide full scope nurse-midwifery services including antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care
- Perform history and physical exams on new and returning clients
- Manage acute and chronic illnesses in collaboration with physicians
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as ultrasounds and blood tests
- Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs and identify high-risk pregnancies
- Administer medication, injections, and intravenous infusions during labor
- Provide emotional support and guidance during labor, pregnancy, and loss
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Maintain active hospital delivery privileges
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in nursing with a specialization in midwifery
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certification as a Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the AMCB
Preferred Qualifications
- Illinois license, DEA, and CDS
- 2+ years of experience as a Nurse Midwife or Labor and Delivery Nurse
