About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support including scheduling appointments and answering inquiries via phone, email, and in person
- Assist with patient check-in and guide students through necessary paperwork and the Student Health Portal
- Prepare patients for examinations by recording vital signs, allergies, current medications, and medical history
- Assist providers with minor procedures, including setting up equipment, gathering supplies, and applying aseptic dressings
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete all associated documentation accurately
- Create, update, and maintain electronic patient medical records
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by licensed providers
- Perform clinical procedures such as venipuncture, administering immunizations, and conducting TB skin tests
- Assist with verifying student immunization compliance
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program
- Current CMA certification
- Prior experience as a certified medical assistant
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office software
- Ability to navigate online medical records and maintain strict patient confidentiality
- Strong organizational and efficiency skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and support the University's mission
