About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical duties within the scope of practice, including operating diagnostic equipment, performing EKGs, and collecting blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary methods.
  • Prepare and room patients for examinations according to established policies and procedures.
  • Record patient care documentation accurately and in a timely manner within medical records.
  • Organize, stock, and clean exam and treatment rooms, and sterilize medical instruments using an autoclave.
  • Assist physicians and nursing personnel with various clinical procedures and patient care needs.
  • Conduct telephone and in-person screenings for patient intake and information gathering.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control, privacy, and confidentiality protocols.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification (or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment).
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.
  • Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic computer literacy, including intermediate Excel skills.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to pass Tuberculosis screening and provide proof of immunity to required vaccinations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Proven knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Bilingual skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
