Certified Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care under the direction of a physician or Advanced Practice Provider in an ambulatory family medicine setting
• Gather patient data through interviews and observations
• Assist patients and families with preparation for examinations
• Assist the physician or APP during examinations and clinical procedures
• Provide routine treatments and administer approved medication types
• Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system
• Act as a liaison for patients to schedule specialty testing or physician consultations
• Maintain compliance with infection control standards and safety practices

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or at least 1 year of verifiable MA work experience
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification
• Current MA certification or registration (CCMA, CMA, CMAC, NCMA, NRCMA, NRCAMA, RMA, ARMA, or AAH)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
