About the role
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes following manufacturer guidelines.
- Utilize the Steris IQ tracking system to document all steps within the sterilization process.
- Inspect and assemble surgical instrument kits and case carts.
- Adhere to Hospital Sterile Processing Department policies and AAMI guidelines.
- Expedite the turnover of surgical instrumentation to ensure efficient patient care.
- Maintain high productivity and time management standards to support department growth.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to obtain IAHCSMM or CSPDT certification within 2 years of hire.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and physical stamina, including standing, walking, and repetitive motion.
- Ability to lift and carry items ranging from 10 to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of related experience or training in a sterile processing environment.
- Previous experience as a Central Sterile Technician or in a related medical field.
