Central Heating Plant Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate boiler plant including biomass gasification, natural gas, and fuel oil boilers
• Maintain steam flow and collect plant process data via written and computer logs
• Coordinate fuel and water treatment chemical deliveries
• Perform basic maintenance and routine housekeeping to keep plant in tour-ready condition
• Operate steam-driven turbines and auxiliary equipment for 480 volts 3 phase power generation
• Ensure compliance with Air Quality Permit requirements and safety standards
• Coordinate work with contractors and ensure safety compliance

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience in power plant, turbine generator, or industrial process operations
• Basic math and computer skills
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work flexible shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Power plant operating certification/license (e.g., NUILPE)
• Knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting for steam, condensate, and fuel systems
• Knowledge of boiler combustion control and burner management systems
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations (lockout-tagout, fall protection, confined space)
• Forklift experience
