About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and clinical support for patients enrolled in complex cell and gene therapy clinical trials.
- Monitor patients for therapy-specific adverse events, including cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS).
- Conduct informed consent and perform research visits for cell and gene therapy studies.
- Oversee apheresis procedures, cell collection processes, and pre-infusion preparations.
- Deliver comprehensive patient and family education regarding complex cellular and genetic therapies.
- Manage research nursing documentation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate with cell therapy laboratories, pharmaceutical sponsors, and regulatory personnel.
- Serve as a clinical expert, mentor, and instructor for advanced therapy nursing practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion of an Accelerated Nursing Program.
- Valid New York State RN License.
- 4 years of experience in cell therapy, gene therapy, or hematologic malignancy research nursing within clinical trials.
- Direct experience with CAR-T cell therapy, cellular immunotherapies, or gene therapy protocols.
- BLS or ACLS certification from a nationally recognized organization.
- Required certifications in HIPAA and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) upon hire.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional nursing certification such as OCN/AOCNP, BMTCN, or cellular therapy nursing certification.
- CCRP/CCRC certification.
- FACT Immune Effector Cell training.
- Supervisory or leadership experience with clinical research staff.
- Familiarity with Columbia University research and clinical systems.
