CDL Hi-Rail Railroad Technician

Responsibilities

• Apply herbicides for weed, grass, and brush control along railroad tracks
• Mix tanks and calibrate spray equipment for accurate application
• Perform daily truck inspections, routine maintenance, and system repairs
• Maintain accurate daily and weekly operational records
• Ensure all work complies with safety guidelines and regulations
• Identify vegetation types to determine proper application methods and chemicals
• Communicate professionally with customers to address any concerns

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 21+ years of age
• Valid CDL Class A or B with tanker and air brake endorsements
• 5 years of clean driving experience
• Ability to operate manual transmission trucks (no automatic restrictions)
• Ability to travel away from home for 4–6 weeks at a time
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and federal background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Hi-Rail or vegetation spray experience
• Willingness to earn a Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License after hire
