CDL Guardrail & Highway Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Install and set up highway guardrail layouts
• Handle and place materials for guardrail installation
• Load and unload materials on flat-bed trucks or trailers
• Operate Post Pounder/Driver Truck and other highway maintenance equipment
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and brooms
• Use power tools including chainsaws, pole saws, weed eaters, and backpack blowers
• Interpret plans and schematics
• Perform roadway maintenance including clearing drainage, patching pavement, and storm cleanup

Requirements

• Class A or B CDL required
• Valid Virginia driver’s license with at least 3 years of clean driving
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Construction background or heavy labor experience
• Ability to work night shifts (7 PM to 5 AM)
• Physical endurance to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions
• Must be at least 18 years of age
