About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee breakfast and lunch meal service operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery to patients
  • Supervise and support catering staff across all kitchen stations during the early shift
  • Ensure patient trays are assembled correctly in accordance with dietary requirements, allergies, and texture modifications
  • Coordinate trolley collection, delivery, and dishwashing operations
  • Maintain high food safety and hygiene standards in line with HACCP guidelines and Food Safety Legislation
  • Liaise with ward staff and nursing teams regarding meal requests and dietary queries
  • Assist with stock availability, tray setup, and operational workflow
  • Conduct shift handovers and communicate operational issues to the Senior Food Service Supervisor
  • Assist with basic data entry and meal charging processes

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food service operations, hospitality, healthcare, or aged care settings
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and support a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of HACCP Food Safety Program principles and safe work practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Valid National Police Check dated within the last 12 months
  • Food Handlers Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of hospital food service operations and patient dietary requirements
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
