About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all culinary activities for catering operations, including concept development and menu planning.
- Oversee the creation, testing, and implementation of culinary programs.
- Manage food costs, estimate consumption, and handle food purchasing.
- Develop standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality and plating.
- Supervise and train a diverse team, including bakers, cooks, and student employees.
- Ensure adherence to safety, sanitation, and equipment maintenance standards.
- Contribute to fiscal management by advising on annual operating budgets and controlling labor costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in hotel/restaurant administration, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Two years of supervisory or management experience, including planning and budgeting.
- Proven experience in high-volume or high-profile culinary and catering operations.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and train a diverse workforce.
- General computer knowledge and strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Food Handler's Permit within 14 days of employment.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Culinary Arts or Hotel and Restaurant Management.
- Executive Chef certification.
- Experience in university culinary operations or large-scale multi-unit food service.
- Proficiency with food service menu management and inventory systems.
- Experience with sustainable food procurement and production.
- Experience managing bargaining unit covered employees.
- Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification.
