Catastrophe Modeling Analyst

Responsibilities

• Leverage third-party catastrophe models to obtain estimates of catastrophe risk of Arch Re's cedents
• Justify and explain CAT model outputs to ensure accuracy
• Generate reports to provide a complete picture of cedents' catastrophe exposure
• Handle cat pricing of reinsurance submissions with minimal supervision
• Apply machine-learning methods like similarity scoring and clustering to clean and analyze large exposure datasets
• Produce analytics artifacts including written reports, interactive dashboards, and reproducible notebooks

Requirements

• Proficiency in intermediate Excel
• Practical experience with Python and/or SQL
• Experience working with large, complex datasets and applying ML techniques
• Ability to produce clear written reports and dashboards for non-technical stakeholders
• Basic knowledge of insurance or reinsurance terminology
• Willingness to work outside normal office hours during peak seasons, including evenings and weekends
• Degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, IT, Physical Sciences, or Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with R
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI
• Exposure to data engineering, ETL, pipelines, or warehousing
• Experience with process and report automation
