About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare and preheat permanent and sand molds to ensure optimal casting conditions
- Install elements onto molds and pack sand around patterns
- Monitor temperatures of heating units, gauges, and furnace flames to meet project specifications
- Melt metals and add necessary alloys to achieve specific casting properties
- Pour aluminum into molds with precision and spray/pour permanent molds as instructed
- Cut risers and gates to ensure proper casting flow
- Clean, fill, and maintain melting furnaces and other foundry equipment
- Inspect molds and conduct quality tests to identify and correct defects
- Move materials and supplies within the foundry to maintain workflow efficiency
- Maintain detailed records of materials used, including sand, alloys, and metals
- Use hand tools such as hammers, saws, and chisels for shaping and finishing components
- Adhere to all established safety policies and procedures to maintain a secure work environment
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret scales, rulers, blueprints, and work orders
- Proficiency with hand tools including pliers, wrenches, hammers, and chisels
- Experience using digital thermometers for temperature monitoring
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members
- Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of manufacturing experience as a Caster/Foundry Worker or in a related role
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience operating a forklift
