Cassandra Engineer

Responsibilities

• Execute installation, configuration, and deployment of DSE/Cassandra nodes in multi-data center environments
• Perform DSE and Apache Cassandra cluster administration, including patch and version upgrades
• Configure and fine-tune clusters for optimal performance using replication strategies, partitioning, and compaction settings
• Automate routine maintenance and operations using Python, Bash, and Ansible
• Set up monitoring tools and dashboards to ensure cluster health and high availability
• Provide on-call support for critical cluster issues and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks
• Support consumers of DSE/Cassandra clusters during their sprint cycles and production releases

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with NoSQL databases, specifically Cassandra or Datastax DSE
• Expert-level understanding of Cassandra architecture, data replication, and consistency levels
• Proficiency in cluster administration, management, and configuration
• Advanced performance tuning and optimization capabilities
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools
• Skilled in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DSE Search (Solr) and DSE Analytics (Spark) workloads
• Exposure to Apache Solr and Apache Spark technologies
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS) and cloud-native services
• Proficiency in Python and Ansible for automation
• Cassandra data modeling expertise and CQL proficiency
