About the role

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active caseload and complete intake and assessments for each resident
  • Provide problem-solving and referral counseling to shelter and Correctional Residence Facility (CRF) clients
  • Develop a network of community resources and make referrals to existing services
  • Design and implement interview schedules to evaluate quality of life improvements for program participants
  • Assist front desk personnel with responding to client issues and crises
  • Record activities and incidents accurately using log books and incident occurrence reports
  • Contact emergency services, such as police or ambulance, when necessary
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding clients, staff, and Centre records

Requirements

  • University or College diploma in Social Service (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Ability to pass an Enhanced Reliability Screening with Corrections Canada
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work with socially disadvantaged populations and federal release clients
  • Ability to lift or carry up to forty pounds
  • Flexibility to work part-time shifts (specifically Friday and Saturday, 11pm-7am)
