High school diploma plus 3 years social services experience, OR Baccalaureate degree plus 18 months experience, Permanent status in required civil service titles
About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of BOS staff providing eligibility determination, financial planning, and employment monitoring
- Assign applications to staff and review recommendations for benefit sign-offs
- Oversee the application process for new applicants, Family Assistance cases, and Safety Net reopens
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly statistical reports and audits
- Provide case consultation and guidance on difficult cases
- Review employment eligibility decisions for compliance with Agency and New York State regulations
- Perform Mandatory Dispute Resolution functions
- Supervise staff handling homebound clients, walk-ins, and telephone inquiries
- Manage staff determining housing needs for tenants at risk of homelessness
Requirements
- High school diploma and three years of full-time experience in social/human services or related client/employment services
- OR a baccalaureate degree plus 18 months of experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist
- OR a baccalaureate degree plus 18 months of experience in social/human services
- Must be permanent in the Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist or Benefits Opportunity Specialist title for at least one year
