About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of BOS workers handling the application process for new applicants, closed cases, and one-shot deals
- Assign applications to staff and review recommendations for benefit sign-offs
- Oversee staff interviewing applicants for eligibility regarding food, non-food, SNAP, and Medicaid benefits
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly statistical reports and audits
- Provide case consultation and guidance on difficult case planning processes
- Manage staff providing service delivery for established cases and employment planning
- Review employment eligibility decisions for compliance with Agency and New York State regulations
- Perform Mandatory Dispute Resolution functions
- Supervise staff managing housing needs for tenants at risk of homelessness
- Conduct field visits as required
Requirements
- High school diploma and three years of full-time experience in social/human services or client services
- OR a baccalaureate degree plus 18 months of experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist
- OR a baccalaureate degree plus 18 months of experience in social/human services or client services
- Must be permanent in the Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist or Benefits Opportunity Specialist title
