Cartage Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Coordinate end-to-end cartage activities for air and sea freight, including LCL and FCL movements.
• Plan and book pick-ups and deliveries to/from ports, terminals, depots, and customer sites.
• Manage container collections, returns, and slot bookings (e.g., VBS).
• Allocate work to transport providers, monitor performance, and resolve service issues.
• Proactively manage detention and demurrage exposure by monitoring key dates and free-time.
• Coordinate specific cartage requirements for assigned corporate customers to ensure service levels are met.
• Maintain accurate job milestones, instructions, and charges within CargoWise One.
• Control POD collection and follow up on exceptions, damages, or delivery refusals.
• Collaborate with warehouse, customs, and operations teams to ensure timely cargo release and delivery.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in transport or cartage coordination within freight forwarding or logistics.
• Working knowledge of air and sea freight operations, including LCL and FCL workflows.
• Proficiency in using CargoWise One or similar forwarding/transport systems.
• Experience managing port/terminal slots (VBS) and working with depots/empty yards.
• Strong understanding of detention and demurrage drivers and cost minimization strategies.
• Familiarity with New Zealand local transport requirements and safe work practices.
• Must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
