Carrier Aircraft Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical owner for Stratolaunch owned launch platforms, managing technical baselines and change control
• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams to support modification, maintenance, and operation of experimental aircraft
• Partner with Program Managers to ensure aircraft readiness for test operations and execute modification programs
• Apply Systems Engineering principles to manage risk, control scope, and drive technical execution
• Collaborate with internal hypersonic vehicle programs and external customers on store integration and certification
• Support test planning and execution for both ground and flight operations
• Manage engineering staff and develop staffing plans to address skillset gaps
• Facilitate technical reviews including SRR, PDR, and CDR

Requirements

• Proven experience as a front-line manager of technical employees
• Extensive experience maintaining, modifying, and testing experimental aircraft
• Strong understanding of Systems Engineering fundamentals
• Familiarity with relevant FAR components (e.g., Part 21, Part 25)
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Demonstrated success in leading engineering teams and managing complex technical problems

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience integrating air-launched stores onto launch platforms
• Familiarity with military store carriage devices and bomb racks (e.g., MAU-12)
• Expertise in MIL-STD and MIL-HDBK documents pertinent to store certification (e.g., MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-1553)
• Experience in hypersonic flight vehicle design, development, and testing
• Active DOD security clearance
