Carpenter

Responsibilities

• Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard
• Use various carpenter’s hand tools and power tools to build props, sets, and decorations
• Perform layout preparation, including marking materials accurately for cutting and assembly
• Assemble framework for structures, including subflooring, stairs, partitions, and cabinet work
• Fit and install window frames, doors, weather stripping, trim, and finish hardware
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
• Ensure all work conforms to local building codes and safety regulations

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings to extract material requirements and dimensions
• Proficiency in using measurement tools for accurate layout and marking
• Experience fastening materials using nails, dowel pins, screws, bolts, or glue
• Proven understanding of 3-D design methods and fabrication of props or show-support items
• Strong understanding of the safety components and proper use of all carpentry tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Journeyman Level Carpenter with 5 or more years of demonstrable experience
• Previous experience in painting
