Carpenter

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, remodel, retrofit, and repair interior and exterior structures using various materials
• Perform skilled rough and finish carpentry, including cabinets, shelving, partitions, flooring, and door/window frames
• Read and comprehend blueprints, plans, and specifications to translate them into fabricated products
• Create rough sketches and estimate costs, time, and materials for carpentry projects
• Inspect completed work to ensure conformance with specifications and compliance with building and safety codes
• Perform heavy physical labor and direct the work of other staff members
• Clean, maintain, and calibrate tools and equipment used in daily operations

Requirements

• High school graduation supplemented by completion of a union, private, military, or trade school apprenticeship
• 10 years of related experience in construction work
• 4 years of journey-level carpentry experience in a commercial, industrial, or facilities setting
• Proven ability to read and follow blueprints and technical drawings
• Demonstrated experience with safety training and protocols
• Sufficient physical strength and dexterity to perform heavy lifting and demanding manual labor
• Strong knowledge of shop practices and proficiency with various shop tools and equipment
