Carpenter 1

Responsibilities

• Perform rough and finished interior and exterior carpentry work for building maintenance, repairs, and alterations
• Fabricate repairs and install door frames, casings, keys, and windows
• Replace screens and window glass, and maintain panic hardware
• Repair and install ceiling tiles, drop ceilings, and floor tiles
• Perform preventive maintenance on all campus buildings
• Execute miscellaneous duties including cleaning the shop, oiling/cleaning equipment, and sharpening tools
• Read blueprints to guide construction and repair projects
• Assist in other trades as needed to support campus facility operations

Requirements

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship (preferably a four-year program)
• Five years of experience as a journeyman carpenter
• Ability to read and work from blueprints
• Ability to fabricate and laminate cabinetry
• Ability and willingness to work from ladders up to ten feet and work in inclement weather
• Ability to work overtime and weekends when needed
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain eligibility under CSU Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy
