Cargo Claims Specialist - Recovery

Responsibilities

• Support the recovery process by identifying and pursuing liable third parties, including carriers and subcontractors
• Manage assigned cargo and freight recovery claims in a timely, accurate, and customer-focused manner
• Conduct initial investigations to ensure efficient claim processing with appropriate documentation
• Assist in loss mitigation activities and participate in root-cause analysis
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date entries in the claims management system for reporting and monitoring
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and maintain professional communication with customers, underwriters, and external experts
• Coordinate with the central Insurance & Risk Management team on significant or complex claims
• Contribute to team initiatives aimed at improving claims handling processes and competency
• Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and internal requirements

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in cargo claims handling or recovery (ocean, air, or inland marine preferred)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Working knowledge of end-to-end claims processes
• Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain, or marine insurance is an advantage
• Familiarity with transportation liability frameworks (e.g., COGSA, Montreal Convention, Carmack Amendment) is preferred
