Caretaker/Custodian

Responsibilities

• Perform light cleaning duties including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dusting offices and furnishings
• Maintain facility cleanliness by emptying garbage and recycling receptacles and cleaning washrooms
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness by polishing sinks, countertops, and fixtures
• Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, unblocking toilets, and tightening furniture screws
• Maintain external property by keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice and performing litter pick-up
• Monitor and maintain cleaning supplies ensuring all bottles have WHMIS compliant labeling
• Adhere to all Health and Safety standards to ensure a safe environment for staff, volunteers, and clients
• Report any major repair issues or workplace hazards to the supervisor immediately

Requirements

• Completion of Secondary School
• Up to 1 year of prior custodial or related experience
• Knowledge of Health & Safety Standards
• Ability to lift and move up to 49 pounds
• Ability to undergo a successful vulnerable sector check

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating industrial cleaning equipment and tools
• Familiarity with WHMIS and OH&S Act regulations
