About the role
Responsibilities
- Carry out and maintain animal feeding and watering schedules
- Perform animal health care tasks, treatments, and medication administration
- Observe and document animal behaviors and wellness
- Complete shelter projects including feed and medication ordering
- Provide daily enrichment and assist with veterinarian appointments
- Participate in health checks and wellness meetings
- Support the Animal Care Intern Program by working with interns onsite
Requirements
- Minimum one year as a Farm Sanctuary Assistant Caregiver or two years at an animal care facility
- Keen animal behavior observation skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform animal care duties
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions
- Reliable, dependable, and committed to animal care policies
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred
