Career Counselor

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of program participants providing career technical, academic, social, and personal development counseling
• Assess and evaluate students on both formal and informal levels
• Aid students in continuing education, additional training, and connecting with community services
• Document monthly student contact counseling sessions for minors and adults
• Conduct ESP and MYPACE reviews and update information in CIS
• Assist students in setting short and long-term goals and identifying career challenges
• Co-facilitate small group social skills sessions including employability skills
• Track and manage projection data to ensure student progress
• Participate in student orientation and Career Management Team decisions
• Serve as Counselor on Duty on a rotational weekend basis

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree including 15 semester hours of social services-related instruction
• One year of experience in counseling or a related field
• Experience working with a diverse population of youth
• Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record
