Cardiac Telemetry Technician

Responsibilities

• Monitor, document, and communicate electrocardiogram (ECG) tracings for patients.
• Recognize and analyze arrhythmias or abnormal cardiac rhythms and promptly report changes to the registered nurse.
• Enter patient data into the arrhythmia computer system and set appropriate alarm limits.
• Manage patient admission, standby mode, and discharge within the monitoring system.
• Validate yellow and red level alarms and take appropriate clinical steps.
• Troubleshoot central station equipment, monitors, transmitters, and patient cables.
• Maintain equipment logs and arrange for necessary repairs to ensure all devices are functional.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider certification from the American Heart Association.
• Basic computer proficiency, including ability to navigate web-based applications and Microsoft Office.
• Successful completion of the UChicago ECG course and validation test upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Cardiographic Technician certification.
• One year of relevant work experience.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
