Cardiac Telemetry Technician

Responsibilities

• Monitor, document, and communicate electrocardiogram (ECG) tracings for patients within the Telemetry Hub
• Recognize and identify arrhythmias, abnormal cardiac rhythms, and rhythm changes
• Promptly report rhythm changes and arrhythmias to the registered nurse and activate Rapid Response Teams if necessary
• Enter patient data into the arrhythmia computer system and set alarm limits according to guidelines
• Manage patient admission, standby mode, and discharge within the monitoring system
• Troubleshoot central station equipment, monitors, transmitters, and patient cables
• Maintain equipment logs and arrange for necessary repairs to ensure all devices are adequately maintained

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider certification from the American Heart Association
• Basic computer familiarity, including ability to navigate web-based applications and Microsoft Office
• Successful completion of the University of Chicago electrocardiogram (ECG) course and validation test upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Cardiographic Technician
• One year of relevant work experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology
