Cardiac Sonographer

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality ultrasound imaging procedures to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain ultrasound and echocardiology equipment
• Prepare accurate written and electronic reports to document procedures and test results
• Assist with patient handling to ensure optimal care and safety
• Participate in teaching, research, and quality improvement activities
• Adhere to hospital policies, departmental procedures, and patient confidentiality standards

Requirements

• Completion of a recognized post-diploma Cardiovascular Principles and Instrumentation (C.P.I.) program
• Minimum of 2 years of recent cardiac ultrasound experience
• Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
• Registration with Sonography Canada or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) Level II Basic Rescuer Certification
• Strong computer literacy and organizational skills
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment
