Cardiac Sonographer I

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality echocardiography studies, including 2-D, M-Mode, Color Flow, and Spectral Doppler, across all patient populations.
• Conduct transesophageal and stress echocardiography as ordered.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by reviewing medical history, taking vital signs, and explaining the process.
• Analyze and organize data, perform necessary calculations, and compile preliminary interpretations for physician review.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked equipment and ensure patient rooms are prepared for studies.
• Document and process procedures accurately to minimize delays in physician reading.
• Coordinate with pacer technicians to obtain AV Optimization results.
• Participate in department performance improvement and quality assessment programs.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited ultrasound/sonography program.
• Associate’s degree or higher in echocardiography or cardiovascular sonography.
• Ability to obtain RDCS (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI) certification within one year of employment.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a cardiovascular ultrasound setting.
• Experience with structural heart procedures.
