About the role

Responsibilities

  • Command an assigned sludge vessel and crew
  • Pilot the vessel and exercise independent judgment underway
  • Assign duties to licensed officers and crew
  • Ensure safe operation in port and underway
  • Direct mooring, unmooring, loading, unloading, and storage of supplies
  • Maintain logs, reports, vessel upkeep, and regulatory compliance
  • Instruct junior officers and crew and keep the supervisor informed

Requirements

  • Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with Master endorsement or higher
  • FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit or higher
  • First Class Pilot's License within one year of appointment
  • Valid TWIC within 30 days of appointment
  • USCG medical clearance and drug screening
  • Ability to maintain required licenses during employment
