About the role
Responsibilities
- Command an assigned sludge vessel and crew
- Pilot the vessel and exercise independent judgment underway
- Assign duties to licensed officers and crew
- Ensure safe operation in port and underway
- Direct mooring, unmooring, loading, unloading, and storage of supplies
- Maintain logs, reports, vessel upkeep, and regulatory compliance
- Instruct junior officers and crew and keep the supervisor informed
Requirements
- Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with Master endorsement or higher
- FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit or higher
- First Class Pilot's License within one year of appointment
- Valid TWIC within 30 days of appointment
- USCG medical clearance and drug screening
- Ability to maintain required licenses during employment
