About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale capital projects to expand manufacturing capacity and capability for Corning Optical Communications globally
- Manage project teams of 5–10 engineers and technicians, including matrixed internal and external resources
- Oversee all phases of equipment deployment, installation, commissioning, and startup
- Define project scope, develop funding requests, and manage project budgets and business cases
- Ensure all projects are executed safely and in full compliance with company safety requirements
- Manage stakeholder communication, including updates to steering teams and governance groups
- Own project deliverables, schedules, risk identification, and issue resolution
Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering (or a combination of technical degrees)
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in leadership or management roles for capital manufacturing equipment projects
- Proven experience managing project budgets and developing business cases
- Experience with equipment, construction, and manufacturing costs
- Ability to guide teams toward consensus and informed decision-making
- Willingness to travel to project sites in North Carolina and overseas (India, China, and Europe)
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience in Optical Fiber manufacturing (development, engineering, or operations)
- Strong process discipline for managing scope, schedule, and budget, including formal change control
- Experience working with cross-functional teams such as Operations, IT, Quality, and Finance
