About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale capital projects to expand manufacturing capacity and capability for Corning Optical Communications globally
  • Manage project teams of 5–10 engineers and technicians, including matrixed internal and external resources
  • Oversee all phases of equipment deployment, installation, commissioning, and startup
  • Define project scope, develop funding requests, and manage project budgets and business cases
  • Ensure all projects are executed safely and in full compliance with company safety requirements
  • Manage stakeholder communication, including updates to steering teams and governance groups
  • Own project deliverables, schedules, risk identification, and issue resolution

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering (or a combination of technical degrees)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in leadership or management roles for capital manufacturing equipment projects
  • Proven experience managing project budgets and developing business cases
  • Experience with equipment, construction, and manufacturing costs
  • Ability to guide teams toward consensus and informed decision-making
  • Willingness to travel to project sites in North Carolina and overseas (India, China, and Europe)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience in Optical Fiber manufacturing (development, engineering, or operations)
  • Strong process discipline for managing scope, schedule, and budget, including formal change control
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams such as Operations, IT, Quality, and Finance
