CapEx Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)

Responsibilities

• Own the quality lifecycle of customized capital equipment including assembly automation, robotics, vision/metrology systems, and precision tooling.
• Partner with equipment suppliers and Engineering teams to align on quality control specifications and validate readiness for Mass Production.
• Define and execute Equipment Quality Plans through DFM reviews, FAT/SAT protocols, and SOP development.
• Oversee supplier factory preparations, in-process quality control, and outgoing inspections during program ramp-up.
• Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) and equipment qualification activities at supplier sites.
• Drive vendor performance through structured scorecards covering quality, delivery, and cost-of-poor-quality metrics.
• Partner with Failure Analysis & Corrective Action (FACA) teams to drive 8D closure on equipment-related quality escapes.
• Champion the automation of supplier Quality Management Systems (QMS) using AI/ML-based anomaly detection and digital traceability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of supplier quality, equipment engineering, or manufacturing engineering experience in high-volume electronics, semiconductor, or automotive industries.
• Proven hands-on experience with customized capital equipment such as robots, vision systems, or automated assembly lines.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and equipment qualification protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ, FAT/SAT, MSA, GR&R).
• Proficiency in core quality tools including DFMEA/PFMEA, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, Cpk, and Control Plans.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to drive alignment across global suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering or Quality Management.
• Ability to interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, GD&T, and PLC/HMI logic.
• Experience with large-scale data analysis, scripting (Python/SQL), and applied machine learning for manufacturing analytics.
• Track record of leveraging emerging technologies like computer vision, predictive maintenance, or digital twins to enhance quality processes.
