Cancer Insurance Specialist

Responsibilities

• Manage pre-registration, insurance verification, and payor authorizations for oncology patients.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams, including Patient Access and Call Centers, from referral through treatment.
• Interact with insurance companies to ensure proper payment for cancer-related services and advocate for patients during billing issues.
• Advise patients regarding anticipated costs and financial responsibilities.
• Use electronic health records to document information supporting authorizations.
• Provide detailed information to the Single Case Agreement Team to facilitate processes for non-par insurance plans.
• Maintain clear communication with insurance representatives to stay updated on unique authorization guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus at least two years of experience in medical insurance verification or healthcare finance.
• Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare registration, billing, or reimbursement.
• Proficiency with EPIC training and testing (specifically Prelude and Cadence).
• Experience with insurance websites such as Navinet, WebMD, or Passport.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, preferably with oncology experience.
• Advanced skills in insurance authorization and registration techniques.
• Proficiency with Windows-based PCs and hospital revenue systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with resource scheduling (e.g., ancillary testing).
• Previous experience in a complex clinical setting requiring the coordination of multiple services.
