Campus Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus buildings, residence halls, and grounds to maintain safety and security.
• Enforce established safety, security, and conduct policies consistently and professionally.
• Respond to incidents involving crime, fire/life safety concerns, medical emergencies, and accidents.
• Conduct preliminary investigations, gather information, and complete accurate written reports.
• Assist with emergency response efforts, including evacuations and coordination with local emergency services.
• Provide crowd control and traffic management during college events.
• Serve as a visible, approachable, and customer-service-oriented presence on campus.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background investigation.
• Experience or equivalent training in public safety, security, or emergency response.
• Valid Indiana driver's license with a good driving record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and administrative systems.
• Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations and work independently.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Willingness to complete training in CERT Certification, First Aid/CPR/AED, and HAZMAT First Responder.
• Knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogens, basic investigative techniques, and NIMS/ICS.
