Campus Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Provide a uniformed safety presence on campus and in the University Park neighborhood to protect property, people, and visitors.
• Patrol campus buildings and grounds via vehicle, foot, or bicycle.
• Respond to service calls, including building unlocks, safety escorts, and assistance to motorists.
• Respond to emergencies, security/fire alarms, and suspicious activity.
• Provide basic medical care (First Aid/CPR/AED) and coordinate with professional medical responders when necessary.
• Respond to students in crisis and coordinate with relevant University staff or mental health professionals.
• Investigate campus safety matters, including property and person-to-person crimes.
• Maintain accurate daily activity logs and complete clear, well-written incident reports.
• Monitor and report maintenance concerns or campus hazards to appropriate staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DPSST certification under the private security section.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree.
• Prior experience in campus security, community-oriented security, law enforcement, military police, or as a reserve police officer.
