Campus Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Secure campus and facilities by patrolling building interiors and exteriors, locking/unlocking doors, and observing for suspicious activity.
• Respond to various security, fire, and life safety incidents.
• Monitor security posts, greet visitors, check identification, and issue guest badges or keys.
• Enforce University rules and regulations.
• Conduct preliminary investigations and prepare detailed incident reports recording observations and statements.
• Maintain daily activity logs and participate in emergency preparedness training.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant security or safety experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, discretion, and professionalism when managing sensitive situations or irate individuals.
• Ability to work the midnight shift (10:30 PM – 7:00 AM).

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
• Previous experience in higher education environments.
• Experience in preliminary investigations and preparing formal incident reports.
• Background in customer service.

Benefits

• Salary of $19/hr.
