Campus Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Perform security duties, campus patrols, and event security as part of an unarmed, non-sworn agency
• Act as primary public contact personnel, building positive relationships with the college community
• Dispatch services and enforce campus policies for administrative judicial purposes
• Protect lives and property within the campus community through active monitoring and response
• Utilize conflict de-escalation techniques and provide superior customer service to a diverse student population
• Maintain readiness to work in various weather conditions and respond to physically demanding emergency situations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong personal integrity, reliability, and excellent communication skills
• Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain one at the time of hire)
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
• Ability to obtain PA Act 235 certification within six months of hire
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in safety/security, law enforcement, dispatching, or uniformed service
• Previous experience working in a higher education or residential college campus environment
• Proficiency with technology including radio systems, CCTV, alarm systems, and mobile devices
• Certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid, baton, pepper spray, or handcuffing
